Sewage leak into Mt. Scott Creek prompts warning to avoid water

Date

A leaking sewer line contaminated the water in Mt. Scott Creek, Clackamas County officials said Saturday. They advise people to avoid contact with the creek for at least 48 hours.

Clackamas Water Environment Services responded to reports of a leaking sewer line at Southeast 97th Avenue near Sunnybrook Boulevard Friday. Crews worked through the night and stopped the leak around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Mt. Scott Creek and the area downstream were affected. Signs have been placed around the creek to warn people.
