I’ve grown increasingly fearful of our upcoming gubernatorial race. While I respect Betsy Johnson’s desire to throw her hat into the ring, I fear her wildcard status will attract just enough disgruntled individuals to split the liberal vote, handing Republican Christine Drazan a win, with unknown outcomes to women’s reproductive rights. Does the two-party conundrum need to be solved? Absolutely. Is this the election to attempt to solve it? No way.
Yes, we have strong pro-choice support in this state, and one governor cannot single-handedly overturn a law, but we only have to observe the nightmare occurring in other states, and the creative license being applied to the law, to know we may only be one election away from losing our access to abortion.
Please don’t be distracted, people.
