Portland nonprofit Brown Hope must document how it spent $65K in state funds, could have to pay it back

Date

The Oregon Health Authority is asking embattled Portland nonprofit Brown Hope to account for $65,000 it gave the group in 2021 as part of the state’s effort to inform marginalized communities about COVID-19.

In a Jan. 3 letter, a public health director with the health authority told the racial justice organization its leaders have until Jan. 17 to submit required quarterly reports that show how the group has used the money, part of a $570,000 grant the state paid it during the pandemic.
