Phoenix Union, health center partner to offer COVID vaccines, other services – KTAR.com

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Union High School District is partnering with a community health center to offer COVID-19 vaccines and other services on July 30 and 31.

Five schools in the Phoenix Union High School District and one in the Osborn School District will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines, while two Wesley Community and Health Centers will offer the vaccine as well as childhood immunizations, blood pressure screenings, dental screenings, glucose and diabetes screenings, sports physicals, mammograms and well-woman exams.

The Wesley health centers will also offer backpacks for school-aged children, financial wellness and more, according to a press release.

Below is the full list of locations and times:

  • Wesley Community & Health Center Golden Gate (1625 N. 39th Ave.), July 30 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 31 – 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Wesley Community & Health Center 10th Street (1300 S. 10th St.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Academies at South Mountain (5401 S 7th St.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., July 31 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Alhambra High School (3839 W Camelback Rd.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., July 31 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Betty H. Fairfax High School (8225 S 59th Ave.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., July 31 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • North High School (1101 E Thomas Rd.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., July 31 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Osborn Middle School (1102 W Highland Ave.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., July 31 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Trevor G. Browne High School (7402 W. Catalina Dr.), July 30 – 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., July 31 – 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

People can register for the services online or by calling (602) 764-1500.

Those who need a ride to one of the schools or a Wesley health center can also call the number to receive a travel voucher courtesy of Lyft, according to the release.

If no appointments are available for the weekend events, an additional opportunity has been added for Aug. 6 at both Wesley sites, according to the release.

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health as well as Albertsons and Safeway pharmacies are also part of the partnership.

Phoenix Union High School District just wrapped up an event earlier in July where the district and its partners administered more than 4,100 COVID-19 vaccines to the community and it was the largest childhood immunization effort in the county to date, according to the release.
