Oregon’s 1st pediatric monkeypox case: Watch replay of Oregon Health Authority update

Oregon Health Authority has confirmed the state’s first pediatric case of monkeypox virus.

OHA and county public health officials say the case is linked to an adult monkeypox infection that was confirmed last month.

“We have a known connection to a previously diagnosed case,” said Dean Sidelinger, M.D., health officer and state epidemiologist at OHA. “This child did not get the virus at school, child care or another community setting.”

Sidelinger and other Oregon health officials held a press conference addressing the spread of monkeypox and highlighting what to expect related to COVID-19 and the 2022-23 school year. Watch a replay in the video player below:
