Dorothy Spence suddenly found herself a work-from-home, stay-at-home mom with her three children by her side.
Her youngest two, ages 6 months and 23 months, because of coronavirus exposure at their day care centers. Her oldest, age 8, because Parkrose School District joined a growing list of districts nationwide this past week to temporarily cancel school or shift to remote instruction as the omicron variant of COVID-19 forced a rash of absences.
