Illinois COVID-19 trends remain level – Health News Illinois

As of Monday, 1,369 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up two from Sunday and down 153 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 145 were in intensive care units, up one from Sunday and down 56 from the prior week. Twenty percent of Illinois’ ICU beds were available, the same as the prior week.

There were 45 patients on ventilators, down three from Sunday and down 21 from the prior week.

Forty-two counties are now at a “high” community level of COVID-19, the level at which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people mask indoors in public spaces. Thirty-nine counties are at a “medium” risk level.

The Department of Public Health reported 3,825 new COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths on Tuesday. The new cases bring the state total to 3,657,772, while the death toll is at 34,625.

The seven-day average for new cases on Tuesday was 3,528, down 23 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 10, the same as the prior week.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people is 27.7, down 0.2 from the prior week.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 23,190,343 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,740,030 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 7,376.
