As of Wednesday, 880 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 19 from Tuesday and up 81 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 85 were in intensive care units, down one from Tuesday and up four from the prior week. Twenty-two percent of Illinois’ ICU beds were available, down 1 percentage point from the prior week.

There were 21 patients on ventilators, up two from Tuesday and up three from the prior week.

Twenty-three counties are rated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as having a “medium” risk of community spread.

The Department of Public Health reported 5,686 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Thursday. The new cases bring the state total to 3,200,930. There have been 33,698 confirmed deaths.

The seven-day average for new cases on Thursday was 5,618 up 1,492 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is six, down two from the prior week.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people is 44.1, up 11.7 from the prior week.

About 81.6 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 73.3 percent are fully vaccinated.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 22,081,962 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,423,357 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 11,885.
