Chris’
Hotdogs
is
a
landmark
Montgomery
restaurant
institution
that
has
not
only
celebrated
100
years
in
business,
but
now
a
dramatically
improved
health
score.
Chris’
now
has
a
98
health
rating.
Its
new
owners
say
the
score
had
been
in
the
70s
before
they
bought
the
restaurant
and
made
massive
improvements
to
it.
Morris
and
Leslie
Capp
bought
the
restaurant
in
October
of
last
year
and
closed
it
temporarily
to
make
changes
before
reopening
in
January.
They
put
in
a
new
ventilation
system,
air
purification
system,
high-tech
pest
control,
new
duct
work,
repainted
the
entire
building
and
rebuilt
all
of
the
old
counters
to
restore
the
original
look.
They
say
that
they
put
in
a
lot
of
hard
work
and
effort
themselves
along
with
your
crew.
The
Capps
says
with
each
rating,
they
want
to
continue
to
improve,
hoping
that
they
made
the
former
owners
proud.
“We
needed
to
raise
that
health
score
dramatically
and
give
people
a
reason
to
come
into
a
brand
new
Chris’,”
owner
Morris
Capp
said.
“My
wife’s
motto
was,
‘something
old
is
new
again,’
and
it
is,
and
it’s
clean
and
the
food
is
great
and
the
burgers
are
bigger
than
ever
and
we
have
a
great
crew
of
people
and
they
brought
in
some
computerization
to
the
organization.”
“We
spent
a
lot
of
time
and
effort
to
make
sure
that
the
establishment
was
loved
by
people,
but
also
trusted
by
people,
and
we
noted
there
had
been
some
issues
in
the
past,
but
we
want
it
to
alleviate
those
and
I
think
we
have,”
owner
Leslie
Capp
said.
Chris’
Hotdogs
was
founded
in
1917
and
is
the
oldest
family-owned
restaurant
in
Montgomery.
It
has
served
presidents,
Dr.
Martin
Luther
King,
Jr.,
Elvis
Presley,
countless
celebrities
and
sports
figures
and
every
Alabama
governor
since
it
opened.
