Men are less likely to seek out and receive treatment for mental health concerns, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.
And that can have horrible consequences. Though men are less likely to attempt suicide than women, they are much more likely to die when they do.
Experts say that many men and boys don’t talk openly about their struggles, and that makes it hard for them to seek help.
Coming up at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, MPR News host Angela Davis talks with two mental health professionals who work closely with men and boys.
And we want to hear from you, too. Are you a man or boy who has struggled with your mental health? Have you been able to get help? What do you want others to know? Or are you someone who is worried about a man or boy in your life? What questions do you have for our experts? You can call us at 651-227-6000 or 800-242-2828 during the 9 a.m. hour of the show or Tweet @AngelaDavisMPR.
