COVID-19 metrics continue downward dip – Health News Illinois

As of Sunday, 1,452 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, down 18 from Saturday and up 36 from the prior week.

Of the patients in the hospital, 148 were in intensive care units, up three from Saturday and down nine from the prior week. Eighteen percent of Illinois’ ICU beds were available, down 1 percentage point from the prior week.

There were 49 patients on ventilators, down nine from Saturday and down one from the prior week.

Fifty-nine counties are now at a “high” community level of COVID-19, the level at which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people mask indoors in public spaces. Thirty-four counties are at a “medium” risk level.

The Department of Public Health reported 2,843 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths on Monday. The new cases bring the state total to 3,604,149, while the death toll remains at 34,432.

The seven-day average for new cases on Monday was 4,322, down 120 from the prior week. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 10, up four from the prior week.

The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people is 33.9, down 1 from the prior week.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 23,073,546 COVID-19 vaccines, including 4,703,251 booster doses. The seven-day average for doses administered is 9,145.
