For the first time since the dawn of the pandemic, one Boston-area hospital said Thursday it has no COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit. Tufts Medical Center first admitted a COVID-19 patient to the ICU on Mar. 23, 2020 — 731 days ago.As of Thursday morning, a Tufts spokesperson said the hospital was caring for nine COVID-19 patients but none were in the ICU. Statewide, the Department of Public Health reports that 80% of all available ICU beds are occupied. In Boston, 86% of all ICU beds are occupied.
