Winners of 2nd Massachusetts vaccine lottery announced

A publishing and software company employee from Billerica and a high school junior from Norwood are the winners of the second round of Massachusetts’ VaxMillions Giveaway.Residents ages 18 and older who are fully vaccinated prior to each drawing have the opportunity to enter to win one of five $1 million cash prizes. Fully vaccinated residents between 12 and 17 years of age may enter for the chance to win one of five $300,000 scholarship grants.State officials drew the names of winners for the second round Monday and contacted the winners to confirm their eligibility.The second $1 million prize of the sweepstakes was won by Donna McNulty, a longtime employee of a Billerica company who plans to use the money to support her upcoming retirement. “My wife entered the lottery and a couple of days ago they contacted us and we’re, you know, very happy and we’re going to be able to catch up on some bills,” McNulty’s husband, Patrick McNulty, said. The McNulty’s had to keep their win a secret until it was announced on Thursday.”That’s the hardest part, not telling your family and friends. That was the hardest part,” he said. Dylan Barron, a rising junior who is studying automotive at Blue Hills Regional Technical School won the scholarship. He is still making his post-graduation plans. The winners of the first drawing were Darrell Washington, 63, of Weymouth, and Daniela Maldonado, 15, of Chelsea.To be eligible, a person must have been vaccinated in Massachusetts.
