Southern Nevada Health District observes National Infant Immunization Week

Date

LAS VEGAS – April 24-30 is National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW), observed yearly to highlight the importance of protecting children 2 years of age and under. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children stay on track with well-child appointments and routine vaccinations.

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has partnered with Immunize Nevada and is waiving immunization administration fees this week for children under age 3 who are underinsured and VFC eligible. Additionally, free giveaways will be available for each child (up to age 3) getting immunized, and families can enter a free raffle to win prizes including a stroller and a baby monitor.

Infant immunizations are available at the following SNHD locations:

Main public health center, 280 S. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89107
Hours: Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. (closed 12-1 p.m. for lunch)

East Las Vegas Public Health Center, 2950 E. Bonanza Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89101

COVID-19 has caused disruptions in many lives and a result for many families has been missed or delayed wellness checkups and vaccinations, which are crucial in helping ensure that children stay healthy. Vaccines are among the most successful public health tools available for preventing disease and death by helping reduce the spread of infectious diseases.

District Health Officer Dr. Fermin Leguen said, “National Infant Immunization Week is an opportunity to recognize the critical role vaccination plays in preventing serious childhood diseases. We encourage families to check with their health care providers and make sure their children are up to date on routinely recommended vaccines.”
