Intel workers don’t need a COVID-19 vaccine, at least not yet, after the chipmaker paused its vaccine requirement last week.
Intel established its mandate in November, citing a government mandate for federal contractors. The company set a Jan. 4 deadline for employees to get a shot or submit to weekly tests. Last month, the company told employees it would put the unvaccinated on unpaid leave in April.
Since then, though, the Supreme Court tossed out the Biden administration’s vaccine-or-test mandate for large employers. The separate mandate for federal contractors is on hold, at least until February, while a federal appeals court considers its merits.
