The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 7,390 new COVID-19 cases and 28 deaths on Tuesday.

The new cases bring the state total to 1,911,649, while the death toll is 26,934.

The seven-day average for new cases is 7,199, down 141 from a week ago. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 34, down seven from the prior week.

As of Monday, 3,628 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 115 from Sunday and up 599 from the prior week. It’s the highest number of hospitalizations since 3,642 were reported on Jan. 12

Of the patients in the hospital, 743 were in the ICU, down five from Sunday and up 133 from the prior week. There were 368 patients on ventilators, up 16 from Sunday and up 96 from the prior week.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 4 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 5.7 percent.

About 75.3 percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 67.3 percent are fully vaccinated.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 18,251,052 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 68,908.
