IDPH reports 10,264 new COVID-19 cases, 63 deaths – Health News Illinois

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 10,264 new COVID-19 cases and 63 deaths on Tuesday.

The new cases bring the state total to 1,985,779, while the death toll is 27,291.

The seven-day average for new cases is 10,590, up 3,391 from a week ago. The seven-day average for daily deaths is 51, up 17 seven from the prior week.

As of Monday, 4,008 Illinoisans were in the hospital with COVID-19, up 48 from Sunday and up 380 from the prior week. It’s the highest number of hospitalizations since 4,093 were reported on Dec. 30, 2020.

Of the patients in the hospital, 845 were in the ICU, up 34 from Sunday and up 102 from the prior week. There were 438 patients on ventilators, up six from Sunday and up 70 from the prior week.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests is 5.7 percent. The seven-day statewide test positivity using the number of COVID-19 positive tests over total tests is 7.6 percent.

Seventy-six percent of eligible Illinoisans ages 5 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 67.8 percent are fully vaccinated.

Illinois vaccinators have administered 18,697,629 COVID-19 vaccines, per state data. The seven-day average of doses administered is 65,165. A total of 2,789,551 booster doses have been administered.
